After choosing my final design I went on the Kryolan website and bought some large fake sideburns in order to create my look to be as authentic as possible. Helen told me I would have to use Spirit gum and Spirit gum remover in order to stick the sideburns effectively to my model's face.
To apply the fake beard I used my arm as I didn't want to attach the fake beard to my own face in front of my whole group! I started by using a thin layer of spirit gum and painted this in the general shape and size of the sideburns. I then gently placed the sideburns onto my arm and used more spirit gum to neatly attach the edges on the hair so that it looked cohesive and realistic on my arm and wasn't peeling at the edges.
Once I had created the look and practiced it to make sure it looked realistic I put a small amount of spirit gum remover on a cotton bud and gently rubbed this underneath the hair piece until it was completely removed. I then washed my arm thoroughly and added moisturiser to make sure that my arm did't have any residue from the spirit gum.
Overall, I am very happy with the effect and I think this looked very realistic. The next step will be to practice attaching this to my model's face and the again with the finished look. I am very excited to use these hair pieces in my design.
